My neighbor found an old baby bed mattress at a garage sale that his wife made a new cover for that works great for a dog bed.

A solution of half water and half vinegar will de-odorize and kill most bugs. The vinegar smell goes away in a few hours and if you can't remove the cover to wash periodically, it's a good way to clean dog beds.
